MARBLING WORKSHOP SCHEDULED FOR 2008!

I am very pleased to announce that I have been asked to return to the Appalachian Center for Craft in Smithville, TN to conduct a weekend marbling workshop.  The workshop is scheduled for April 12 & 13, 2008.

People taking my workshop will explore the magical process of dropping paint colors onto the surface of thickened water patterns, then transferring their patterns onto their choice of fabric.  Participants will learn all aspects of the marbling process, preparing fabric, making thickened water, mixing and floating paints, manipulating patterns, and transferring their designs to cloth. Marbling is a process that allows play and unlimited exploration with color, with endless variety in patterning.   Emphasis will be placed on exploration and nontraditional uses of this medium which has intrigued Turkish sultans, French peasants, and Japanese emperors.

The fiber studios at the Appalachian Center for Craft are considered state of the art by fiber professionals through-out the southeast.  I am very pleased to be offering this weekend workshop again in this idyllic setting on the edge of the Tennessee plateau a little over an hour east of Nashville.
